Candle Holders - Picking a Style For You

Candles are an easy way to add warmth and style to every room in the house. They can also do the same outside if the wind is not too high. Scented candles are even more useful when it comes to creating a mood or ambiance. Making and selling candles can also be a lucrative home business. However, there are three reasons why you should use candle holders when burning candles: safety, presentation and mess.

It is just not a good idea to let candles stand just on their base even though they may seem all right. For safety reasons alone, you should use a holder to catch the dripping wax and catch the last bit of the wick when the candle burns down to the bottom, if you do not, you are running the needless risk of starting a fire. And think of the mess that dripping candle wax makes! You either have to scrape it off hard surfaces or iron it out of fabrics. All of it needless work for the sake of a candle holder

Then there is the added style that the right holders can add to your room or patio. Yes, you can use candles on a patio or deck even if there is a breeze with the correct holders. Think about the old fashioned glass lanterns with the opening panel to access the candle. They look very smart hanging on the wall or placed on the table on a patio or deck.

There really is such a vast range of good quality holders on the market now that you will be able to find several to match any style of decor that you may have in your house and, of course, some kinds of candle holders will mix with virtually any style. Think of candlesticks and candelabra, for example.

No romantic table would be right without at least one candlestick with its candle. A normal romantic meal would have white, odorless, tapered candles, whereas a Christmas table would not really look right without red tapered candles in their candlesticks.

There are specialized candle holders too, such things as candelabra. Some candelabra are highly specialized like the menorah and the kinara, which are used to mark special occasions. However, the candle holders that most people will be familiar with are the good old candlesticks, especially those used at the dining table or in a restaurant.

Every household should have a few candle holders that they can fetch out for special meals or to create special lighting effects. This is one of the reasons why candle holders make such wonderful and cherished gifts for any adult. So, if you are stuck for a gift idea at any time, think about giving a beautiful candlestick or better still, a pair of candlesticks or a chic candelabrum.

The latest trend in trendy candle holders is the candelabrum painted in a bright hue. Red, blue or yellow are popular colors for contemporary candelabra or buy a wrought iron candelabrum and paint it yourself and you will have one of the most stylish candle holders in the street.

Mounting Your Wall Coat Rack

When mounting the wall coat racks in your home you can throw it up on the wall and (hopefully) it looks good. Hopefully the colors are right as is everything else. Find someone who can do things like use a screwdriver or a drill. This may be your husband or your neighbor, who knows? It doesn't matter who it is, it just matters that they have some handy knowledge. A handyman would work wonders at this and probably have it up in no time flat.

Another thing you are going to want to do is use wall anchors when you install coat racks. Wall anchors will make it so that your coat rack is able to hold way more weight. They have a stabilizing effect on the rack and that is why they come so highly recommended. Over the years many people will probably grab, rip, and tear at it so it must be enforced as much as possible at the beginning here. This is our opportunity to get things right from the beginning.

The bottom line with wall mounted coat racks is that they involve a two stage process. First, you think about stylistic ideas that you may have. What color do I want my coat rack to be? What do I want it to be made out of? And then there is the practical application of actually putting the thing up on the wall. This is where the rubber meets the road. But if you follow my directions given above you should be fine. Just know that the work and thinking that you are putting into this project right now will be returned ten-fold if you are detail-oriented and insist on being very thorough in your hanging.

Mounting wall coat racks is not a difficult task. You just have to make sure you have them level and they are anchored in well. If you are not sure about it hire someone to come over and do it for you. Chances are you know someone that knows how to do this sort of thing. Decorating with Metal Brackets

When many people think of metal brackets they usually envision unattractive industrial styled pieces of angled metal that support shelving in closets and garages. While that type of bracket still has its place there is also a wonderful assortment of architecturally inspired decorative brackets that can be used for shelving supports and so much more.

There is a large selection of decorative architectural brackets available; sturdy cast iron brackets, unique forged iron brackets, quality wrought iron brackets, and beautifully detailed aluminum brackets, and many are available in a variety of custom colors.

Materials Used In Decorative Metal Brackets

Aluminum Brackets:

Aluminum is a silvery-white metallic element, having good conductive and thermal properties. It is used to form many hard, light-weight, corrosion-resistant parts. The aluminum castings used in our brackets are poured from ingots equal to or better than no. 319 alloy, giving them strength and durability at approximately 1/3 the weight of iron.

Cast Iron Brackets:

Unlike wrought iron, cast iron is too hard and brittle to be shaped by hammering, rolling, or pressing. However, because it is more rigid and more resistant to buckling than other forms of iron, it can withstand great compression loads. Cast iron has the benefit of mass production. Once the mold is made many copies can be produced for reasonable cost.

Tole Iron Brackets:

Tole is metal that has been rolled into thin sheets. It is cut and formed into designs such as leaves and welded to the forged brackets.

Wrought / Forged Iron Brackets:

The term forged means hammered and shaped on an anvil when hot, usually prior to being wrought or added to a wrought design. Wrought iron designs are made by heating and bending or forming the rods of wrought iron.

Ideas For Using Decorative Metal Brackets

With sizes ranging from @ 4" to 24" corner brackets can be used for everything from supporting shelves and counters to framing windows and doorways. With so many stunning designs to choose from decorative brackets are sure to spark your creativity.

Corner Brackets

Corner brackets offer a unique way to give an ordinary doorway or window an extraordinary new look. Just mount a set of ornate brackets in the corners of an opening to decorate a doorway or embellish an entrance. Corner brackets can also be attached to posts to add an element of architectural detail on your front or screened-in porch. Decorative brackets are available in styles ranging in design from traditional to rustic so there is sure to be something to blend with your application.

Counter Support Brackets

Wrought and cast iron brackets are available in styles designed to blend in with almost any decor. They are perfect for the home owner who is looking for something different and unique. Although not initially designed to support counter overhangs their fundamental shape and strength makes them a viable alternative to wood brackets or corbels. Many home owners as well as kitchen designers have beautifully enhanced their kitchens design with decorative iron brackets.

Hanging Brackets

Decorative hanging brackets are useful throughout your home and garden. Available in a wide variety of styles and finishes, they can be used as a creative way to beautifully support a plant, bird feeder or hang a candle holder.
