Mediterranean Decor in the Bedroom

The Mediterranean look combines a little bit of Spanish, green, and Italian design. To get this look into your bedroom you need to capture the natural beauty that you would see on the Mediterranean coastlines. The climate is always warm and natural. There are several ways to get this look in your room so you can customize the look according to what you like and still end up with a Mediterranean look.

Italian, Greek, and Spanish

Because the Mediterranean look combines Spanish, Greek, and Italian design together you will need to add a little bit of all three in order to balance the look. For example, the Italian style would add marble floors and a wood ceiling. The fabric will be covered with tapestry fabrics and wrought iron accessories like candle holders, chandeliers, and frames. Pottery is placed in various rooms as well as stone and ceramic. Bright colors are a part of the Italian look as well. The Greek decor consists of whitewashed walls and green and blue shades of color. You can incorporate this color in the furniture or by accessorizing the room with these colors. With Spanish decor, you do have a broader range of colors to choose from. This will give you a little more freedom.

Place the bed in the middle of the room if possible. The bed should be dressed up with a white comforter and several throw pillows of different shapes. All of the pillows should be white in color. Add a throw blanket at the foot of the bed in the color of ocean blue. This will give your bed just enough color and it will fit in with your Mediterranean decor.

The walls should be decorated with tapestry decor. You can make this yourself or you can purchase it. Tapestry decor adds just the right amount of color to a wall. You can place pictures of the ocean on the wall as well.

Accessorize with a large terra cotta pot with a green plants growing. Place it by the door or around the bed. This will not only add color to your room but it also helps to make the Mediterranean look to your room.

Windows should be done in white sheer curtains that flow. Don't worry about cutting them off. Simply let them dance in the breeze when the windows are open. If you want to add color to the window, make a teal green or brown valance to go on the top of the window, still keeping the sheer panel curtains. You can create a special corner in your room to add mosaic tiles around your mirror or dressing table. This gives the wall color and style.

Hanging plants are also part of the decor. You can hang plants up in corners of the room and at the window. Hang candles on the walls and have them also sitting around the bed. Place a few glass bowls on your tables and fill them up one fourth of the way with sand. Then you can add seashells to the bowls.

Complete your Mediterranean look with area rugs. You can choose from blue rugs or green rugs to accent the look of your room and to provide comfort where you step.

Design consultant Fran really enjoys writing about home decorating with a Mediterranean feel. And she says that if you are ready for your room to shine then lay tropical area rugs or sisal area rugs on your floor.

Christmas Wrought Iron Candle Holders

Holiday candle holders are a great way to spread Christmas spirit. With their festive shapes accented by the beauty of a burning candle, Christmas wrought iron candle holders can create the perfect atmosphere for your holiday get-together. Wrought iron candle holders for Christmas come in a variety of styles, shapes, and sizes and can be adorned with a variety of Christmas symbols.

Christmas wrought iron candelabras make a great centerpiece for your Christmas dinner. Candelabras, with their large arms and many candle holders, bring a lot of light to an area. Holiday wrought iron candelabras can be shaped like the branches of a Christmas tree or have a repeating shape such as a star or angel on each arm.

Single wrought iron candle holders are also popular choices for holiday accent lighting. Single, stand-alone candle holders for Christmas can be large or small for a variety of candle sizes. This type of wrought iron candle holder usually has a single Christmas symbol on the holder and the candle is placed in the middle of it. Common symbols include reindeer, snowmen, snowflakes, wreaths, trees, and sleighs. Single candle holders look nice when a few are grouped together in one place or when they are placed symmetrically on an area.

Wrought iron candle holders that are less complex than candelabras but more intricate than single candle holders are also available. There are many unique wrought iron holiday candle holders that hold candles in unique and asymmetrical arrangements. A wrought iron reindeer design that has candle holders positioned on the reindeer's antlers is a popular design. Another unique design available is a shaped like a Christmas tree and has candles located at various positions on the tree where lights would be located. These wrought iron pieces are full of detail and look great as the centerpiece on a mantle or sofa table.

Wrought Iron Wall Candle Holder - Affordable Beautiful Comforting

A friend of mine has an online newsletter that comes out once a month. The topic of her newsletter is affordable home decorating ideas. Anyway, I got a call from her the other day. She wanted to know if I would be interested in writing an article for her newsletter.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear from her. She went further on to say that in the past she had used some of my wall decor ideas to present to her loyal newsletter members. As our conversation went on I told her that Ice would be honored to write an article for her newsletter. You could hear in her voice that she was grateful and pleased that I would put together an article for the next addition of her newsletter.

After we ended out telephone conversation I started to ponder what wall decorating topic I would write about. It took me only a few minutes and then it came to me. One of the main forms of decor around my home is made from wrought iron. One of the most beautiful, affordable and pleasing forms of wrought iron decor is in the form of wrought iron wall candle holders.

So I got to work. I found everything I could find on the subject of wall candle holders made from wrought iron. It took me a while to get everything together, but in the end it was well worth the time and effort.

The first thing I noticed was size. The smaller sized wall candle holders would usually hold only one candle. Although these were smaller candle sconces, they came in a variety of amazing twisted and curled shapes. With all these design choices, even the most selective individual would be able to pick out a wall candle holder design to complete the room in which it was displayed.

I also found wall candle holders in wrought iron designs that had mirrors behind the metal art. This gave the candle holder a distinctive artful appearance. If mirrors are part of the decor of the room, these would be a perfect compliment to the feel of the room.

Some of these single wall sconces in wrought iron are also available in what is called a bird cage. A bird cage wall sconce actually has a housing for the candle that looks like a miniature bird cage. In this case the candle housing was a beautiful vine design made of thin gauge wrought iron.

Depending on what you are looking for, the single wall sconces are available most any size candle you can imagine, from votive to larger pillar candles. Some of these wall sconce candle holders were available in single packaging and some were packaged in pairs.

There are also wrought iron wall candle holders that hold two or more candles. For those of you who are looking for larger wrought iron wall candle holders, you can find them in sizes that range from two candles, all the way up to sixteen candles or more.

Wrought iron can be shaped into many different shapes, so there are many designs to work with such as swirling, vine, ornate, birdcage, grape, star, acorn, bow, Fluer De Lis and many more.

Depending on what style or theme the room in which you display these twisted and shaped wall candle holders, there is a wrought iron design to complete the feel of the room. You have many choices. So many choices that I suggest you take your time to research all that is available for you to choose from. Start your search today and I know you will find the perfect wall candle holders in wrought iron to supply a comfortable feel to the room in which they hang.

Ways to Decorate by Using Hanging Plant Stands

It doesn't matter if there is a large, spacious room or a small downtown apartment, hanging plant stands are an easy way to easily add visual interest and beauty to your design scheme.

Traditional to modern, you'll find stands that will easily fit in using your overall design, and enhance your rooms while also bringing some nature inside. Use them by themselves, or incorporate hanging plant stands with other types of planters, pots and stands for a unifying result.

The Various Types Of Stand You Use For Hanging Plants

These stands can be installed indoors or outdoors, and are available in numerous materials. Mostly, you will find hanging plant stands made from wood, metals (such as wrought iron) as well as wicker. You may also find some in many other materials, such as acrylic.

Wrought iron is among the most most popular type of material for these particular stands for hanging plants because it happens to be quite possibly the most functional. Wrought iron works with any decorating scheme, and it is a nice, natural backdrop for the plants.

It'll never dominate your flowers!

Wood could be the next in line, because it is also neutral and fits in well with modern day homes, particularly in rooms that are light and airy.

Guidelines For Using Hanging Plant Stands

How can you use these kinds of stands for decorating? Well, the most obvious choice is of course, to use them to hang plants. You can display brightly colored flowers or lush flowing ferns.

However, what about using them to keep your indoor herb garden within easy reach in the kitchen?

Look for a stand that lets you display several different pots and planters, and build a grouping of the favorite cooking herbs. It will not only look pleasing to the eye, but it'll be a fragrant focal point for the nose as well.

An additional use for these plant stands in the kitchen area is to store produce that you don't want to refrigerate.

Tomatoes, potatoes, onions, garlic... all of these foods fare better when they are kept out of the fridge, but if you lack the counter space or cupboard space to store them then hanging plant stands produce a perfect alternative.

They look pretty, and are within reach.

You can also use one to show fruit, for example lemon, limes, oranges, apples... any attractive fruit you want to have sitting out in the home.

Outdoors, you can use them on and round your terrace to display grouping of candles or lanterns. You can even group plants with candles and lanterns if you are using a multi-plant stand.

Hanging plant stands are a flexible way to add a natural attractive element to your house design. So what are you looking for? Scan our choice of hanging plant stands, and make your home a lot more beautiful right now! Go to http://hangingplantstands.org/ to check out a great deal more.

Instructions for Candle Making

Candle making like many others is more of a creative and innovative skill than a simple hobby work. You can let your mind's eye go wild and capture whatever ideas flank by the streets of your mind.

Candle gift added by the candle holders are masters in expressing feelings and emotions. Your artistic ability can further make the candle remarkable and spectacular, worth praise by anybody.

Steps for Making a Basic Candle

Apply some lucid vegetable oil to the rigid or flexible mold available and bolt the extra oil from the container with paper towel.

Thread the appropriate wick in through the hole in the mold. Allow an inch extra wick from the hole.

Block the hole with mold seal or get the wick coated with 2-3 layers of wax over it. This would help wick stand straight.

The wick should be tied to a split cane or toothpick in order to suspend it vertically and the mold should be balanced in an upright position.

The double boiler or a pan with water having a bowl overhead should be used for melting wax. Put in the color dye if any and stir to ensure homogeneity.

Allow the melted wax to settle down in the mold once it is poured in. Set aside the container so that the wax hardens overnight.

For releasing the candle, invert the mold and gently tap or carefully remove if the mold is flexible.

Some Additional Inventiveness

A lot of natural and aesthetic touch can be given to the basic hand-made candle, which would only enhance its inherent charm.

• A few drops of any essential oil would add special aroma to your product while burning.

• Dried flowers, fallen petals and herbs would make your candle look so lovely.

• Some fascinating part could be of adding beads, laces and even ribbons to them.

• Adding ice crystals and chunks of extra wax can offer a snowy visual.

So, it's quite clear that a little bit of imaginative and creative mind can result in some really unique and fantastic creations in form of candles.

Try some of the CandleHoldersForYou.com tips for candle making and they would work wonders. And then the purpose is no more a concern- be it candle gift or decorating outside home with outdoor candle holders.

Western Metal Art

One of the most enduring images of the Old West is that of the town blacksmith. While his main work was in making horse shoes and farm implements, he also did the occasional metal art work for some of his biggest clients. He made thing like wrought iron signs for ranches, and for those who could afford it and had an artistic bend of mind, a few decorative items for use in the home.

Today western metal art is a genre in itself with both large companies and individual artists offering all kinds of metal art work designed to give your home the feel of a ranch house, even if it is in New York. With a range of themes from traditional cowboy home décor to the nostalgia of something you remember seeing in your grandparent's home, western metal art is making a big comeback. A few accessories can change the tone of your house or apartment or even just a single room into something different and nostalgic. With the materials and fabrication techniques available today, you have a choice between items that have the rough old fashioned finish or things made to more modern quality and finish standards but which still convey the western theme.

Among the most popular pieces of western metal art are:

· Saddles and harnesses with intricate metal inlay work
· Kitchen caddies with spurs,
· Wrought iron picture and mirror frames
· Metal candle holders
· Horse shoe shaped book ends
· A great favorite is the barn star. Thought to bring good luck and prosperity, they are available in a variety of sizes, materials and finishes with various mounting and hanging options.
· Names plates and welcome signs designed to give the western look

Western metal art also makes for great gift items. Whether it is a house warming gift or a personal present, there is a range of western metal art to meet your needs. Personal gifts can range from large gifts for the home to small personal items like western themed specially made money clips, business card holders, key chains etc.

The range is huge and is limited only by your imagination. Anything of western origin that catches your fancy can either be bought of the shelf or can be made for you on commission. An internet search will produce hundreds of retailers and commission artists.

When looking for getting art specially made to your design, search for not just dealers or manufacturers of western metal art, but look for the specialty areas like art relating to cowboys, ranch life, the Southwest, horses, the rodeo and so on. People who deal in these super specialty areas will be extra knowledgeable on the subject of their specialization and will be able to guide you in finalizing your design and the materials to be used. Having a bronze barn star painted black will never look as good as a black wrought iron one.

And remember if you come across metal sculptures of cowboys, horses and other things connected to the West, this is art depicting the West, but not western metal art per se as these are not traditional form of western metal art.

Christmas Shop: Christmas Tree Candles and Clip-On Candle Holders Create Holiday Buzz This Year

Christmas tree candles, candle clips and metal candle holders are creating more buzz this holiday season than they have since electric Christmas lights captured the market after World War I.

It's the ultimate proof that a product that has been extinct for nearly ninety years can make a comeback.

For at least some shoppers, using real candles on the tree is push-back against high-tech seasonal glitz and glam and a way to simplify and slow down the holidays. For others, Christmas candles are an elegant, aesthetic alternative to the soulless, homogenized tree lights and other decorations that flood store shelves every holiday season, courtesy of the "Christmas-Industrial Complex."

Are you making granola for friends and family, wrapping presents in recycled gift wrap and planning to roast a free-range turkey for December 25th? Then Christmas candles are your kind of tree lighting. They're even greener than LED lights, since they use no electricity.

Do you like a touch of elegance and surprise in your holidays? Do you entertain with panache, like to create moods with lighting and wow your guests? Then tree candles should be on your must-have list.

Are you a gadget geek? Do you appreciate ingenious, well-put-together products that deliver what they say they will deliver and delight the eye? Then Christmas candle clips and pendulum candle holders are going to be your best new-old find.

Do you still use your grandmother's stuffing recipe and your great-aunt's Christmas tree ornaments? Do you like the idea of reviving old traditions and passing them on? Then Christmas tree candles and vintage candle holders are for you.

Whatever your reason, if you're the kind of person who is drawn to the idea of decking out your tree with natural candles, by definition, you march to the beat of a different drummer.

Whether you go with candlepower this year for design and decorating reasons, because you like new-old and innovative finds, because it's eco-friendly and simple, or because you want to experience Christmas like your great-grandparents did, remember that clip-on Christmas tree candle holders, candle clips, old-fashioned pendulum candle holders and the candles themselves have been teetering on the edge of oblivion for decades. They're not easy to find locally. They long ago vanished from hardware stores. Even specialty candle shops and gift stores don't stock them. You won't find them anywhere at the local mall.

If you are going to find genuine Christmas tree candle holders, pendulum holders and candles anywhere, you'll discover that the best place to look is online. Find a reputable, experienced web shop and satisfy yourself that the tree candles, pendulum holders and candle are imported from Germany. Germans have been making Christmas tree candle holders and candles for years and they make the best. Nothing against imports from other countries, but you can't count on the quality being as good. Why go with a cheaper import when you can get the real thing? It probably wouldn't occur to you to buy a Buddha figure imported from Germany. Why buy classic clip-on candle holders and traditional Christmas candles from China?

You will want to look at the options and decide which product you like best. There are several choices when it comes to the holders. The candles are made expressly to fit the candle holders. They are usually available in red and white. Don't substitute another kind of candle. The candle must fit firmly and snugly in the base. If it does not, it can fall out of the holder onto the tree. Dining candles are too long. Party candles and birthday candles are too little to be used on a tree. Votive candles are too big. Don't tempt fate. Buy genuine German-made tree candles so you can enjoy your tree with peace of mind.

Adorning your tree with candles instead of electric lighting will satisfy your ethical and aesthetic impulses: It's green and conscientious. It's absolutely elegant from an aesthetic and holiday decorating standpoint. It's both innovative and traditional. And it's stop-in-your tracks beautiful. Your Christmas tree will never look more appealing and Christmas will never be more unforgettable.
